Chapter Four: Candace Darlington

Candace Darlington hung up the phone and picked up her cat.
“Oh, Snickers, I’m so excited,” she said, stroking the soft cat. Going into her living room, she was greeted by six other cats.
“Oh, I bet you’re all hungry,” she said, walking into the kitchen. After she had fed them all, she went back to her room. When she had shut the door behind her, she turned… and nearly screamed. A strange, beautiful girl was in her room. She wore a dark green floor-length dress, and a deep blue cloak. Her long black hair fell down her back, and her eyes… her eyes were clear blue, and felt as if they were reading your every thought. Then she spoke. A soft, gentle, yet mysterious voice.
“An adventure awaits you and your companions,” she said. Candy stared at her wide-eyed.
“How did you get in here?” Candy asked.
“I was sent,” the girl answered. “To foretell you of the adventure that awaits.”
Candace stared. “Adventure?”
“Tell no one of this visit,” the girl continued. “I will return to give you more guidance, but you must tell no one.”
“Why?” questioned Candy.
“All questions shall be answered in time,” the girl answered. She started to flicker, like a lamp with a dying bulb. “I am being drawn back,” she said. “Take heed of my words, I shall return.” The girl faded even more.
“Wait!” Candy called. “Who are you?” the girl only smiled, and with a flash of golden light, was gone.
